When artist Anthony Marn found out about our PAPYRUS fundraiser he was keen to get involved; he has been hugely generous and sent the gallery an original oil on board painting of York's Micklegate Bar.
We are selling this painting for our annual charity fundraiser, in aid of PAPYRUS, a charity focused on the prevention of young suicide, in memory of Jake, son of gallery owners Anne and Mark - lost to suicide aged just 20.
Anthony lost both parents to suicide whilst still a young child. He tell us that no one talked about it at the time, which only made the situation more difficult to deal with. Growing up, he became a police officer and often dealt with others struggling with mental health. His work has explored the grieving process, and the trouble he had coming to terms with his own loss, in an exhibition titled 'The Space Left Behind.'
Both Anthony and ourselves at the Braithwaite Gallery want to show our support and admiration for PAPYRUS and everything they do for young people in need.
PAPYRUS is a charity dedicated to the prevention of suicide in young people. Just £5 can help provide a lifesaving phone call to someone in need.
Micklegate Bar is original oil on board painting has an image size 16x12"; it has been framed as shown in a wide distressed black frame with a soft scoop cream inner slip, outer frame dimensions approximately 21x17"
All funds raised from the sale of this artwork will be donated to PAPYRUS via our JustGiving page.
