Each year we choose a charity to support, and with the help of our amazing artists and customers, we try to do our bit to try to make a difference for others.
Following on from the success of our previous fundraisers, Artist Gary Walton has very generously sent us another beautiful original painting, titled 'The Caspian'. Featuring one of Gary's distinctive quirky buildings, this original mixed media artwork will be up for grabs through a raffle in aid of PAPYRUS.
The winning ticket will be selected at random on 31st December 2024. It's always a nice way to end the year we think!
TICKETS can be bought online or by phone in blocks of 5 for £10, or in person at the gallery for £2 each.
nb You will be assigned a ticket number/ block of 5 numbers. You will receive an email to confirm receipt however we will not be posting physical tickets.
The painting measures 15x31cm (image size) with mount dimensions of approximately 35x51cm. The picture has been framed with art glass in a distressed pewter coloured frame.
Please note - if the picture is won by someone from an overseas address, the picture will be shipped unframed, as sadly we are unable to ship glass internationally.
Our chosen charity is once again PAPYRUS, a charity focused on the Prevention of Young Suicide. This charity has a special significance for us, as we lost Jake Braithwaite, son of Anne and Mark, the gallery owners, to suicide in 2018, aged just 20.
To date, our 2023-24 fundraisers in aid of PAPYRUS via JustGiving have raised an amazing £8035 . Previous fundraisers for mental health charity Mind raised £5825. Huge thanks to everyone involved.
PAPYRUS tells us: "Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under 35 in the UK. We believe many young suicides can be prevented. Through fundraising you are raising vital awareness of PAPYRUS and spreading our message of hope."
This has been organised by The Braithwaite Gallery Ltd as a Small Society Lottery, registered with City of York Council, registration number CYC-071646.
Special thanks as always to the lovely ladies at City of York Council's Licensing Unit for helping process the registration and paperwork.
We also have a JustGiving page if anyone wishes to donate without entering the raffle.
