A delightful original watercolour painting of York from miniaturist Natalja Olejnicka.
This view shows York's historic Bootham Bar, the North West gateway in the city walls, with York Minster soaring majestically behind. Viewed from behind the fountains in Exhibition Square, with Queen Margaret's Arch on the left.
Did you know that the arch was created in 1503 when Princess Margaret Tudor, daughter of King Henry VII, passed through York on her journey north to marry King James of Scotland. The princess was the guest of the Abbott of St Mary's Abbey. The Abbey wall was breached to make the new gateway.
Yorkshire Artist Natalja is a retired art teacher, who manages to squeeze huge amounts of detail into her tiny paintings.
The painting has been mounted in an off white mount measuring 186x158mm
The image size is approximately 106x78mm.
