Description

Pendine Beach

by Jack Vettriano

Open Edition poster print

Paper size: 500x700mm

Pendine Beach is one of a series of paintings inspired by the life and achievements of Sir Malcolm Campbell, who gained the world land speed record at various times during the 1920’s and 1930’s.

The paintings were originally commissioned by Sir Terence Conran for his Bluebird Club in London.

Sir Malcolm Campbell was the first person to use Pendine Sands, in South Wales for a world land speed record attempt. On September 25, 1924 he set a world land speed record of 146.16 mph (235.22 km/h) on Pendine Sands in his Sunbeam 350HP car Blue Bird.
