Bar Humbug, Monk Bar, York
Original Pencil Drawing by The Braithwaite Gallery's resident artist, Mark Braithwaite
Created for a special project with The Times newspaper and LNER, in Spring 2023, this addition to Mark's A Touch of Red collection features Monk Bar, one of the historic gateways in York's city walls. Monk Bar Model Shop - a favourite with visitors for generations - just makes it into view. Hot air balloons float overhead, (spot the stripy humbug one!) and another 'bug' of there VW variety waits as the traffic lights.
Mark drew the original in graphite pencil with Faber Castell Polychromos colour detailing.
