Dialling Out for Pizza by Sam Toft - a sold out limited edition from gallery favourite, artist Sam Toft.
Mt Mustard heads out to the telephone box on his push bike. It's tea time and he's feeling a little peckish. Doris the Jack Russell Terrier is ALWAYS hungry. Even Audrey, she of the beautiful lashes (like Ms Hepburn), trots along for a jaunt. I wonder what Ernest's favourite topping is? Doris is hoping for mint humbug - humbugs are her favourite thing. I suspect Ernest wants something a little more cheese flavoured.
Sam’s characters, ‘The Mustards’ have a legion of loyal fans. She has described herself as their Official Picture Maker and Story Teller for the past 20 years. They are her imaginary friends, helping her make sense of a world that sometimes seems stranger than fiction; never more so than current times.
Ernest and his dear lady wife Violet live in a not-so damp basement flat on the Brighton Hove border, with Doris, their grumpy and rather portly Jack Russell Terrier, and an ever increasing menagerie of eccentric pets. They inhabit a seaside world of faded ice cream colours where the breeze is always blowing and life is utterly delicious.
We are thrilled to offer for sale a beautiful collection of long sold out Sam Toft limited editions.
The current owner is reluctantly selling, wanting to re-home the pictures somewhere they will be appreciated and loved. Where better to bring them than The Braithwaite Gallery in York, northern home of all things Tofty for more than two decades, and Sam’s biggest fans!
Dialling Out for Pizza by Sam Toft: image size approximately mm with outer mount dimensions of approximately x mm.
The print appears to be good condition; we have remounted it in an acid free off white double mount as it was previously presented in a cream core mount.
This is Artist's Proof 20 of 30, numbered in Roman Numerals XX/XXX (isn't that a nice number?), from a collection of Sam's work published by The Art Group. Pease note - unlike Sam's Collier Dobson published works, The Art Group did not produce Certificates of Authenticity for their limited editions.
As with all secondary market work, the print is not new and is ‘sold as seen.’ We have endeavoured to describe to condition as accurately as possible.
